Wolverhampton’s West Park opened in 1881. It is a longstanding unspoilt Victorian Parkland, situated 20 miles from the centre of Birmingham. Additionally, it is one of the first parks in the country to set a trend for the provision of areas specifically for sporting activities.

West Park’s area of land covers 43 acres, including its open green space and lake. Within a ten-minute walk of Wolverhampton City Centre, the park provides a beautiful landscape and quiet haven for its bustling community.

During the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, this venue will host the start and the finish of the Cycling Time Trial, which will take place on Thursday 4th August. The route is a 37km circuit for male athletes, and a 29km circuit for female athletes.

Aside from sporting activities, West Park will have plenty to see and do for spectators to enjoy. This includes the ‘have a go’ activities and the chance to meet Perry the Bull, Birmingham 2022’s official mascot or even an athlete.

As Official Overlay Supporter of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, GL events UK will be providing temporary structures and fencing at this venue, along with a range of other supporting infrastructure. Our extensive overlay delivery includes, containment, rigging, carpets, cabin showers and toilets, cabin offices, and trackway.

As well as the infrastructure here at West Park, GL events will be providing overlay at many other venues ahead of the Games this summer. Keep a look out for further updates!
