Affecting social change through local partnerships
As with the delivery of all our major projects, GL events is committed to ensuring a meaningful and long-lasting event legacy from our delivery at Birmingham 2022. When we talk about “legacy”, our commitments cover a number of areas including environmental sustainability, community benefit and encouraging a circular local economy to name but a few. Our legacy activity for Birmingham 2022, is closely aligned to the Social Value Charter of the games. To read about the environmental initiatives we are implementing, take a look at our sustainability page.
Our Social Value programme will see us working alongside a number of organisations including University College Birmingham, Jericho Foundation, Change Kitchen and Disability Resource Centre to name but a few, to offer apprenticeships, work placements and a range of other opportunities aimed at delivering long-term benefit to individuals in need of training, experience of the job market, or other life skills.
