With a focus on training the next generation of event professionals, GL events UK is proud to support Crewsaders‘ Get Into Events training course. Aimed at 18-30 year olds in the West Midlands, the course delivered insight and training regarding the practical aspects of event crewing and intends to equip young people with skills needed for a career in events.
Crewsaders is passionate about training individuals to develop their practical and soft skills, with a view to improving their employment credentials within the events industry. The course took place from 12-15 April, hosting unemployed young people from a wide and diverse spectrum of backgrounds, and who are not currently in education.
Get Into Events is a unique three-day training course that gives young people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to gain exposure into what it takes to work within the events industry. Throughout the course, attendees are given the chance to gain a flavour of the industry and the potential career offerings, whilst developing soft skills, practical knowledge and best practices that can be applied when presenting themselves for future employment within the industry.
This programme educates attendees on the importance of key skills, such as timekeeping and communication. Additionally, Crewsaders offer preparation for employment, from resume writing advice and interview tips, to providing hands-on experience of working with event infrastructure. In the final stages of the course, attendees are asked to present their learnings to peers as part of a reflective evaluation.

GL events UK’s support extends beyond the Get Into Events programme, as it has pledged twenty work placement opportunities to Crewsaders trained personnel. These positions will present the young individuals who successfully completed the course with the unique opportunity to apply their newfound skills on some world-renowned events at which GL events delivers.
