As part of our ongoing commitment to societal benefit pertaining to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, GL events UK personnel are participating in the Games’ Volunteer Programme by joining the Commonwealth Collective.

Rental Operations Manager, Martin Price, is one such individual. His job role is predominantly site-based and revolves around managing deadlines. Within this volunteer programme, Martin’s role during Games time will be as Venue Communication Centre Team Member at Smithfield. Here, Martin’s responsibilities will involve important technical assistance of logging and tracking radio communications, and guaranteeing that information is passed efficiently between key client groups and the functional areas.

Martin commented: “I currently live in Birmingham, so when I became aware of this opportunity, I realised that this is a chance to give back to the community that’s on my doorstep. It was an easy yes for me. It was encouraging to have a colleague who approached me about the volunteering role. For me, it confirmed that it was the right thing to do.”
