The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay recently arrived at the 30th destination of its tour, meaning progress through Asia is over and the halfway point of its journey through the 72 Commonwealth nations approaches. Having commenced on 7th October 2021 at Buckingham Palace, London, the progress of this long-standing symbol of togetherness indicates that the Games will soon begin.

GL events UK itself continues to excitedly gather nominations to take part in the Queen’s Baton Relay, with 14th Febraury deadline soon approaching. Birmingham 2022 has encouraged the public to nominate individuals who have made meaningful contributions to sport or inspired kindness into communities, in order to give recognition for their acts through the prestige of being a batonbearer.

The Baton’s next destinations are in Oceania for visits to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Nauru. Stay tuned for more updates on the Queen’s Baton Relay and hear more about GL events UK’s commitment to social value from CSR Lead, Rachel Baker.

Don’t forget, if you know someone who continues to make a positive impact on society, you can nominate them here.
