The epic 90,000-mile journey began on the 7th of October in London, where The Queen placed a written message inside of the Baton at Buckingham Palace. The Baton is visiting 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, later arriving in London on the 2nd of June for a four-day tour, before resuming the international journey overseas. On the 4th of July, the baton will once again return to England, where it will embark on a 25-day tour across the country.

The Baton will reach the end of its journey at Alexander Stadium on the 28th of July for the Opening Ceremony. At this point, the final Batonbearer will pass the Baton to Her Majesty The Queen, who will remove the message and read it aloud to signify the official opening of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
